October to May is generally better for sightings, since animals cluster around remaining water sources as the dry season progresses (February-April especially). Monsoon months see lush forest but lower sighting odds and possible road restrictions.

From Coimbatore, the route runs via Mettupalayam and Sirumugai, descending through forest roads — roughly 2.5 hours. An alternate route via Gudalur adds time but avoids the steepest sections.
There is no railway station at Masinagudi. Coimbatore Junction and, for the hill route, Ooty’s Nilgiri Mountain Railway terminus are the nearest options.
Coimbatore International Airport is the nearest airport, about 2.5-3 hours by road.
We strongly recommend it, especially on weekends and holidays — forest department slots fill up, and turning up without a booking often means a long wait or no safari at all.
Yes, the jeep safaris are a controlled, guided experience. Just note the gate timings are strict, and evening entry is cut off well before dark for safety reasons.
