Alleppey — Alappuzha, officially — is the reason “Venice of the East” gets used so often for Kerala’s backwaters, and it earns the comparison honestly. Vembanad Lake, India’s longest, opens into a maze of narrower canals lined with coconut palms and paddy fields sitting below water level.
Our role here is mostly the road transfer to the houseboat jetty; the cruise itself is arranged with the boat operator directly, and we’re happy to coordinate timing so your vehicle and houseboat schedules line up cleanly.
November to February for the most comfortable weather on the water. Monsoon (June-September) actually has its own appeal for backwater cruising — everything is intensely green — though rain can interrupt open-deck time.

Via Palakkad and Thrissur or via Kochi, roughly 5.5 hours from Coimbatore to the Alleppey jetty area.
Alappuzha has its own railway station with connections along the Kerala coastal line.
Cochin International Airport, around 1.5-2 hours from Alleppey, is the nearest airport.
We handle the vehicle and driver from Coimbatore to the jetty; the houseboat booking is coordinated separately with the operator, and we’re glad to help time the two together.
Both exist — a day cruise of a few hours gives you the core backwater experience, while an overnight stay lets you see sunset and sunrise on the water, which is genuinely different.
